Second Spell For Sensational Smith

Defending National League Champions, the Belle Vue Colts, have made an emphatic start to their 2018 team-building by snapping up star rider Jack Smith for his second spell in Manchester.

Son of Aces legend Andy Smith, the 19-year old demonstrated his tremendous potential with consistently powerful performances that played a key role in the team’s 2017 league triumph.

He is also gearing up for new challenges in Poland after signing for First Division club Rawicz following his promising performance as a Premiership reserve with Belle Vue’s senior team in 2017.

Smith says he’s proud to again bear the Colts’ crest and adds that he’s relishing the prospect of helping defend the National League title, a feat he believes the team is quite capable of achieving.

He said: “It’s a big year for me personally. As well as commitments with Belle Vue and Sheffield, I’m hoping to land my first competitive ride in Poland so there are plenty of new challenges ahead.

“I’m especially happy to be back with the Colts for another season. We had such a successful year last year and I’m hoping we can pick up where we left off as we look to defend our league title.

“Obviously there have been a few changes within the team but I think the management have put together a good bunch of lads, and I think the fans can expect to see a very dedicated group.

“Of course I’m disappointed not to be riding for the Aces as well, but the fact that I’m not has only encouraged me to ride my hardest and prove to people that I am capable of riding at that level.”

While the senior team switch to Monday race nights in 2018, the Colts continue to race on Fridays and will kick on with their team-building with a double announcement on January 24.

The Aces, meanwhile, are set to confirm their fourth signing on Monday, January 22.
